My competitors: Are they monsters?

While I was doing the competitor analysis, I realised how BIG and STRONG they are. For a while I was afraid of them and confused why I am going to start this business. Then with the help of my coach and some more research, I decided that I will choose one specific topic within the field. I am sure when you are starting a new business, a new product, a new habit, there are lots of fears comes along the way. But realistically, everything(eg. business) is there for ages, now you cannot (or can in some cases) say that my idea is the one which is unique and no body worked in this field. People start their businesses which are there from stone age, like housing(shelter) and food. But is it stopping people to enter into the field, NO. So why we consider ourselves in their current position while working on just the idea? Your competitors can be your inspiration and helps you in organising and learning in your field. Now I m researching in the specific area of my field of interest and more passionate about new findings, that means more competitor analysis spreadsheets!

What an Exciting 2014 was ! Is it same for you?

Every year in Jan we try to figure out how was the last year. There are always some regrets and pleasures. Same with me but one thing was different for me which made me feel happy about it and I want to do it again and again. I actually developed agile environment for my personal goals and family. I did sprint planning (1 month) and set targets for six months. As in agile we look and change lots of things through the process , it happened with me as well which helped me to stay motivated and positive quite a lot. I learned quite a lot as professional (see linkedin what I was doing), worked independently on my personal project (noor clothes and why I started), read lots of books (last book lean in by Cheryl Sandburge, good read), got into UX a bit more (course.ra and now ongoing general assembly course to become officially a UX designer), relaxed holidays (Summer wales trip), nice Eids and kept connected with many friends and family (some closed relatives like my Aunt Asma). Hadia and Laiba’s study, started Hadia’s project and lots of learning. I think it is more what I was expected ! So […]

Why I started Noor Clothes?

The reason for starting Noor Clothes is an effort to solve some problems of female clothing. As working women, I always needed modest clothes without under-laying layers. This desire becomes depression specially in summer when it is hard to find out non-revealing clothes. I often searched islamic clothes and most of the time found them really boring and all coat-like styles. So I started to design my own tops which had knee lenth and full arms and beautiful designs with vibrant colors. Whenever I wore those tops, everyone liked it. By the time I realised it is not only my problem but also problem of many women, specially girls (who deserved to be looked good) without any tension. So Here it comes, My Tops Range is all designed by myself and perfect for both working women and college/university girls. The other probelm which I tried to solve is ‘the shalwar qameez’. People in my community and in family like to wear shalwar qameez. But the problem was, the ones which are available in asian-targeting high streets, are not good enough in quality and really expensive. And if you get one dress from these high streets, in couple of weeks, whole […]
